Ryan McCormick — founder of McPrep and your guide through gamified, strategy-first prep.
Hi, I'm Ryan McCormick, a 27-year-old high school math teacher based in Encinitas and the founder of McPrep.
My mission is simple: bring games, competition, and fun into education to capture the modern mind.
Today's students grow up in a world of overstimulation and constant feedback. Attention spans are shorter, and traditional instruction isn't engaging enough.
My goal is to bring youthful energy and entertainment to learning, and boost student motivation and focus. By teaching SAT/ACT prep in bite-sized strategies, utilizing teams and gamified challenges, and rewarding effort with points, I can turn the modern distracted mind into a learning powerhouse!
Most students improve 150+ points through bite-sized strategy training, gamified challenges, and personalized coaching. Boot camps run live on Zoom in small groups.

Answers for parents and students.
Most students improve 120–200 points, depending on their starting score and level of preparation.
Most students should focus on one test rather than preparing for both. Although the SAT and ACT are accepted equally by colleges, the exams emphasize different skills. The SAT generally favors deeper reasoning and problem solving, while the ACT rewards faster pacing and quick recognition of patterns.
Because of these differences, students typically perform better on the exam that aligns with their learning and test-taking style. The best way to determine this is to take the SAT/ACT Decider Survey, which recommends the test that fits each student best.
Even though many colleges are test optional, strong SAT or ACT scores still significantly strengthen applications and scholarship opportunities.
Motivated students who want to maximize their score and improve their college admissions opportunities.
Most students begin serious preparation in 10th or 11th grade.
